About Widney Transport Components

Widney Transport Components was formed in the early 1950s and has established itself as the leading sliding window designer and manufacturer in Southern Africa.

The company is the only local accredited sliding window supplier for Toyota, DaimlerChrysler, General Motors, Nissan and Ford.

In 1996, Widney was bought by Shatterprufe, a member of the PG Group. Widney has been at the forefront of transformation in the motor industry and has become the first black empowered sliding window supplier to the South African bus industry.

What is the difference between a Widney slider and other sliders?
A Widney slider is the only slider that is approved by Original Equipment Manufacturers. You are therefore assured of quality, functionality and reliability.

How do I tell a Widney slider from other, non OE sliders?
All Widney sliders have the word "Widney" screen-printed on them. If it does not say “Widney”, it is not an OE approved slider.

How is the slider mounted to the aperture?
A slider can be fitted using a glazing rubber, or it can be clamped on. Alternatively, the slider can be bonded to the aperture using a sealant. The most frequently used method is the glazing rubber.
